We believe our meals are the best meals you can feed your dog, period. We use human-grade meats, recognizable ingredients, and you'll never see anything we consider to be nasty. Our food vs. the dry stuffDry biscuits can contain meat meals, bone meals, cereals and grains. Carbohydrates are required to form the biscuits, before they are exposed to high temperatures for cooking and drying. Preservatives are frequently used to ensure that the product stays fresh throughout its shelf life. We only use unprocessed meats and offal taken straight out of the human food chain. We never use meat meals, bone meals, or rendered meats. We always cook in small batches, at low temperatures, in our ovens. Our food vs. canned wet foodThe ingredients in canned food are usually declared by categories, making it difficult to decipher what's inside. Meats tend to be mixed proteins from offal and carcasses with only 4% of the leading claimed meat e.g. "with chicken". High quantities of added water and additional thickeners can also negatively impact your dog's poops. We believe that we should always share everything that is going into our recipes. Our food vs. rawWe like that raw food is good quality and transparent, but as pet parents, dealing with raw food never really worked for us. We gently cook our meals which not only kills any pathogens, but can also help to increase digestibility and makes the meals taste and smell much better - we did some tests and our dogs agreed! Our food vs. home cookingWe take the stress out of meal prep and make sure your dog has all the nutrients they need to thrive, thanks to the development of our recipes that follow AAFCO and FEDIAF Guidelines. If you cook for your dog at home, then we’re perfect for you. Our food vs. Other Fresh Food/Pate OptionsWhile there are many companies that sell fresh food/pate, we found that every homemade/fresh dog food company lacked crucial nutrients for dogs. Serious complications from nutrient deficiencies could arise if a recipe hasn't been properly calibrated. Furthermore, they were unable to questions concerning their recipe. For a more detailed understanding of all the dog food options in Vietnam, please read our blog post: Dog Food in Vietnam: Fresh Vs Raw Vs Processed Vs Homemade.
Yes!In our Party Pork recipe, we include grounded pork bones. In our Chompin' Chicken recipe, we grind up the whole chicken while it's raw, so we include chicken bones. Is it okay to give dogs bones? Most raw bones that have not been cooked are edible for dogs. That said, with all bones, there is a risk of choking if your dog swallows without thoroughly chewing. Bones that are too hard can also damage teeth. Cooked bones are not safe your dogs to eat because they can splinter and cause internal injury or intestinal obstruction. While our food is lightly cooked, for the Party Pork Recipe, we finely grind the pork bones while raw. As for the Chompin' Chicken recipe, we also grind up the whole chicken (inclusive of all their bones), while raw, into very small fine pieces. They are then lightly cooked with other ingredients. This way, when we cook our fresh dog food, there is no chance for the finely grinded bones to break and splinter. Why do we include bone? While other companies/ home cooking alternatives may require additional synthetic calcium supplements, or even provide no calcium at all, providing bone in your dog's diet is the best way to ensure they have the most digestible form of natural calcium. In fact, dogs have evolved thousands of years to use bone as their main source of calcium. Calcium is necessary for their growth. They need calcium to maintain bone strength, support muscle, heart, and nerve function.
85-95% of each recipe's ingredients contain Vietnamese-grown ingredients. Our meat and vegetables are sourced locally from Vietnamese farmers and our dry ingredients such as superfoods are also sourced locally where possible. We source our blackberries and raspberries from the USA.
Yes!In our Party pork recipe, we include pork liver, pork heart, and pork kidney, while our Chompin' Chicken recipe contains chicken liver, chicken heart, chicken gizzard, and chicken kidneys. Why do we include organ meat?Organ meats are one of the most nutrient dense foods you can give to your dog. They contain significantly more vitamins, minerals, and other valuable nutrients than lean muscle meat. In addition to premium quality protein and fat, organ meats are plentiful sources of the vitamins A, B, D, and E, as well as minerals like copper, iron, phosphorous, selenium and zinc. All of these are essential for the health of your canine. Why liver meat is good for your dogA key misconception about eating liver is that it contains toxins. The liver DOES NOT store toxins. Its job is to process toxins and make them safe or turn them into something that can be safely removed from the body. Liver is a highly underrated food. It's rich in high-quality protein, all while containing an incredible amount of vital nutrients.
No, Bep Ben is a fresh, lightly cooked diet. Raw meat poses food safety risks, such as potential contamination through pathogens and bacteria. Some raw food companies may not produce balanced food, which may lead to your dog getting long-term deficiencies in certain nutrients. Plus, some dogs are particularly sensitive to a raw diet and are not be able to handle consuming raw meat. Bep Ben's fresh dog food are the best of all three worlds: complete and balanced meals made from clean ingredients, without the risk of bacteria and pathogens, and gentle on sensitive tummies.
Bep ben does not include grains in their recipes. We do not include higher glycemic index carbohydrates, such as potatoes, rice and corn, as these are tied to blood sugar spikes. Our recipes also steer clear of legumes such as lentils, chickpeas and peas, which have been linked to a heart condition - canine dilated cardiomyopathy, in an emerging study by the FDA.
Currently, there is no organic certifying body in Vietnam. That being said, Bep Ben does not use any food coloring, rendered meats, byproducts, sprays, or artificial preservatives of any kind.
Dogs that have made the switch to Bep Ben report a lot of positive changes. Increased enthusiasm during meal times translates to increased energy throughout the day. Other noticeable changes include shinier and healthier coats, improved dental health, improved digestion and less stinky poos. You may also notice that your dog has smaller poos. This is perfectly natural since Bep Ben doesn’t contain fillers. Your dog is merely digesting and using a larger portion of the food than before.

At Bep Ben our packaging (the plastic encasing around individual rolls) is imported from Europe. We went with European standard packaging as opposed to the existing options in the market, because this approach was recognized by the international community, as a safer and cleaner way to make the fresh dog food. Our machinery and equipment is also imported from Europe.
With a closed process system, the equipment is designed to protect manufactured goods from contamination. Because of this, the environment surrounding a closed facility has little impact on the risk of contamination for the product within.
We lightly cooking the food at 90C so that vital nutrients and moisture are retained and the risk of exposure to potentially bad bacteria and other pathogens is minimized. In fact, when you lightly cook food, it destroys common pathogens like Salmonella, E.coli, and Listeria. Heating meats at a specific temperatures is the surest and safest way to ensure the risk of pathogens in food is eliminated. Lightly cooked food is also easier to digest and kinder for sensitive stomachs.
